KZN will witness a marathon before the famous Comrades Marathon in honour of the late Ladysmith Black Mambazo leader Dr Joseph Shabalala.

Shabalala passed on in February 2020 aged 79, but prior to his death, his son, Thulani had already started an initiative to serve, feed and support the needy in the South Coast of the province.

This came in a form of a fun walk where his NGO, Muzi Kababa Art Centre, raised funds for various charities among other initiatives.

Thulani has taken it a step further this time around by creating an initiative called BJS Marathon to inspire, edutain and support through art, sport, and culture in honour of his father Joseph.

And he’s taking the marathon to Mnambithi as per the late Ladysmith Black Mambazo founder’s wishes before he passed on.

And the 42km BJS Marathon is scheduled for 11 February 2023, the date that Shabalala left this world.
